Question Kmix Crash

I'm running mandrake 10.0, and I FINALLY got my sound up and working, and then for some reason every time I run Kmix. the KDE crash handler pops up.

Short Description
The application Kmix (kmix) crashed and caused the signal 8 (SIGFPE).

What is this?
An application mostly receives the SIGFPE signal due to a bug in the application. The application was asked to save its documents.

And that's that. I also ran 'alsamixer' and it only showed the mic volume? I can run totem player and watch video, but with no sound.

Does anybody have a clue as to what's going on?
In the meantime

show us the output of the
amixer
command

lots of times mixers and different alsa drivers get along with varying degrees of sucess or failure
for me though amixer always works but that might just be my system ??????
