Kmail Won't Send Message

I have a multi-boot system (WXP, Ubuntu & Mepis) and have been able to get evolution (Ubuntu) & Outlook Express (Win XP) to send email to an smtp server (mail.addr.com). However, Kmail and Thunderbird will not send email.

I can receive email. Just not receive. Have been through the addr help, etc., but nothing doing. At this point I feel I have all the settings correct as the XP & Ubuntu OS's mail clients function properly.

Has anyone had this experience and been able to find a solution?

Kmail - Settings - Configure Kmail - Accounts - Modify. There are two tabs (Gerneral and Security). Your problem could lie in either one.

In the General pane, give a name to the account, the smtp host, and the port. Check box whether or not server requires authentication. Enter login and password. Check box whether or not to store password.

In the Security pane, selection encryption (if any) and authentication method. Click on the "check what the server supports" button to query your ISP for authentication method.

Click OK when done to close the Accounts pane. Click Apply to make the changes. Click OK to finish.

Thanks bigrig, but have done all that with no luck. This problem definitely confuses me. Especially since Evolution & Outlook Express do work.

Update: Followed the instructions in post #4 of this link -- http://www.mepislovers.org/forums/sh...tp+thunderbird.

Make sure you change the smtp port setting to the one the works with your isp.
