I use Suse 9.3 and want to use Kmail for sending and receiving mail.I have configured Kmail as in Kmail help files, and also use the same ISP settings as with Outlook Express
Here is my configuration settings:
I did not include Account name, username and password, but is the same as what I use in Outlook Express
Receiving
Host: pop.absamail.co.za
Port: 110
Sending
Host: smtp.absamail.co.za
Port: 25
Default domain: linux (at the bottom of the "Sending page")
When I send or trying to download mail I get the following error message
Sending failed
Unknown host smtp.absamail.co.za
The message will stay in your outbox folder untill you either fix the problem or remove the message from your outbox folder.
The following transport protocol was used
Absamail
The following information was obtained from Var/log/Messages about my ISP
local: 196.39.74.215
remote 196.38.72.4
Primary DNS 168.210.2.2
Secondary 196.14.239.2
Suse 9.3 is a fresh install with all the default installation settings intact except for cofiguring the modem and the network card.
this is not a question about LQ.org itself and as such shouldn't be in the WS&F forum, please chose your forum more carefully before posting next time. thanks
