KMail and IMAP folders
Hi all,
How can I subscribe to IMAP folders using KMail? Thanks, Taj |
In the Kmail Settings --- Configure Kmail
Click on Network, then the Recieving Tab Click ADD Then, select IMAP, the rest should be history ;) However, if you need further help, please post back. Cool |
Thanks for the reply, but...
I have my IMAP account as follows: Username: tmorton:linuxmail.org#linuxmail.org Password: <> Host: imap.linuxmail.org Inbox Path: imap.linuxmail.org/user=tmorton:linuxmail.org#linuxmail.org Show hidded folders=True When I get messages, only the inbox folder showed up, but, Trash, Sent, Drafts, and some others should have shown up as well. I'm at a loss :-(. --Taj |
Your username is all that, and the Inbox path is all of that? That sure seems like a lot of infor for those 2 areas.
Try using less info, see what you can do with just supplying basic info like just tmorton for the username, and INBOX for your inbox path (or possibly .INBOX). Cool |
Thanks! Yes, that's my user name. However, I didn't need the "path to inbox"/inbox path. Got it working. :)

Great, glad to hear it! :)

P.S. I've got the same problem and not a clue... |
Hi,
What version of KMail are you using? I'm using 1.6.1. I didn't need to set anything up...it just worked :|. If you want my settings, I'll share them. --Taj |
I'm using the version coming with SuSE 9.0 pro (I think that's about the same -- at least it's not old).
Okay, I set up the connection, IMAP for receiving and SMTP for sending mail, as required by my provider. When I checked the first time for new mail, Kmail copied the folders from my provider and the "re" or subject matter of the mails in them. When I click on a mail it loads the body. But: I want to be able to load the bodies (plural!) of selected mails (and sometimes also the attachments) for offline reading on my machine (I use a modem connection...). Thus I need a way to mark a selection of mails and to issue a "load them" command -- and the documentation has a roaring silence for that topic. Same goes for deleting on the server of my provider (without reading the bodies of e.g. obvious advertising etc.): here I need a way to mark a selection of mails and to issue a "delete them now" command. HOW do I do that? As I understand it, this should be the advantage of an IMAP connection. Any help or hints will be greatly appreciated :). Sending doesn't work at all, I'll have to test more to find out why the connections were refused there... |
