Khmer font in Mandrake 10.1

I live and work in Cambodia, and am a total Linux newbie. I have installed Mandrake 10.1 on two office computers. I need to use a Khmer font (the Limon series) on the computer. I believe it is based on the international keyboard layout, and uses various Ctrl+Alt combinations to create various subscripts. However, some Ctrl+Alt combinations perform system functions within Linux, and so they are not generating the required subscripts. Is there any way to let the computer know (temporarily) to use the Ctrl+Alt combinations for the font, not for the system?

I think you can do this from the KDE "configure your desktop" meny.
