Ok, I have been using wine for quite some time now (both the real wine and the krappy winex) and I got a new computer with a new keyboard (spillied pop in the old one) and when I compile wine everything goes well and I can run my usual programs.. the only problem is my keyboard doesn't work anymore. I read something about having to edit a file to add your own keyboard map but I'm not sure how to do this at all. If anyone has any experience doing this please let me know. Thanks
Hey Aquaman - I Might be able to help you out at least a little bit - but I'm going to need just a little more information.
I need to know if your keyboard doesn't work for ALL of your winblows applications, or if sometimes it does work. Because I've been using wine for quite a long time myself, and you'd be surprised what one change in your '~/.wine/conf' file can do.
If your keyboard cuts out when you're trying to run a full-screen game, you can try a couple of things. . .
First of all - make sure that
"DXGrab" = "Y"
and if that doesn't help - (didn't for me - but sometimes it helps others)
you can try disabling a virtual Desktop for that application by commenting out this line
;"Desktop"="800x600"
I had to do this to get Diablo II 1.09 to work (on battle.net) - and it runs great
Well - if those don't help - please post some more information so I can better help you. . .
Hey, thanks for the reply. But my keyboard just doesn't work at all in any application or game. Although I did just find an old Apple USB keyboard and I'm going to go try that now to see if it works. Still, if you can help me to get my normal ps/2 keyboard to work, that would be fantastic. Again, thanks for the help!
Hey - Sorry it took so long to reply - I've been busy lately. . .
Anyway - about your new problem.
Try the tips I gave you above to fix your keyboard problem for the full-screen games. . .
As I said above, I had that same problem with Diablo II at first. . .
Try disabling the Desktop option in your wine configuration file. . .
If that doesn't help you any - try upgrading to the most recent wine cvs version and trying again. . .
