Keyboard malfunction in terminal

I am running KDE under a Debian distr. When I open up the Konsole and try and type as a user, the lowercase letter "k" doesn't work. The uppercase letter "K" works just fine... and as su I am able to type the letter "k". Has anyone ever had an issue such as this or know where I might look for user permissions as to what keys I can type in the terminal? It really is confusing me.

Never heard of keypress based permissions, but you're giving me wonderful ideas (Dr. Evil pinkie to mouth) How about other lower case keys, like the infamous i or the dastardly d?

Nope, every other key works just fine. Just the lowercase "k" as a user in my konsole. That is the only time that it ever fails me. Do you know what config file I would start my search in?

I've had something similar this morning in slackware 10.1. I use kde.

When using the terminal program the 'a', 'e'. 'u', 'i', 'e' and 'f' keys wouldn't work. These keys worked in all other programs I tried. I could logon using the window manage and the keys would work in kwrite.

I then noticed that my dsl connection wasn't working i.e. I hadn't switched on the router. When I switched it on and gained a connection to the outside world these keys started working!

I've not got an issue now, but if anybody has an explanation it might help someone in the future.

Thanks
