kernel <X> cdrom

hey there,

i had compiled 2.4 kernel recently, and i can boot into it without any problems, however when i mount cdroms ,all files within the cdrom are listed out in short filename format, like:

kernel-2~.rpm
kernel-2~.rpm

but from / or any other linux partition i can view the same file as kernel-2.4.17-i386.rpm and so on.i mean in the long filename format.

i had earlier enabled support for msdos and vfat while compilation.

i don't have any problem viewing files from floppy drive.

what is this due to?any fixes?

thanx n bye,

Sounds to me like you haven't included Jouilet support in your kernel. This is MS' extention to the ISO9660 to allow long filenames.

cheers

Jamie...

I believe it's Joliet. If you are using the menuconfig to compile the kernel, you will see the option under the filesystem section.
