kernel version mismatch

hi all,

i am trying to install the aureal vortex sound drivers from sourceforge, version 1.1.2, on my SuSE 7.1 but after make install20 i get the following message:

/lib/modules/2.4.0-4GB/misc/au8820.o: kernel-module version mismatch
/lib/modules/2.4.0-4GB/misc/au8820.o was compiled for kernel version 2.4.0 while this kernel is version 2.4.0-4GB.

must i tell the driver what kernel version i am using?

the au8820.o file is made with the binary asp20.o file included in the tarball - the asp20.o was compiled under 2.4.0 - i couldn't find the source for it right off - i'll keep looking tho. it needs to be recompiled under your kernel version. are you getting any unresolved symbols?
