Kernel panic when Redhat 9.0 cdrom is initializing for installation
I'm trying to install Redhat 9.0 with DOS 6.22 for dual boot. I've done this multiple times and it's worked quit easily, on the same tyes of machines. The only difference was that this particular machine was already DOS and Redhat 7.2 dual boot.
I get a kernel panic during initializing of a graphical or text installation.
Here is a few of the lines where it is crashing.
NET 4 UNIX domain sockets 1.0/SMP for Linux NET4.0
RAMDISK: Compressed image found at Block 0
crc error<6> Freeing initrd memory: 2640K freed
VFS: Cannot open root device “” or 48:05
Please append a correct “root=” boot option
Kernal panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 48:05
I’ve tried completely formatting the entire hard drive, and I also recreated the master boot record after reinstalling DOS. DOS is coming up and working fine, but I still have the same kernel panic when trying to install 9.0.
I can use the 7.2 installation disk I have and the installation for 7.2 will come up fine.
Anything you can tell me will be a great help. Thanks in advance.
