Hi,
Have you tried restoring the system as it was before?? Do you have your slave/master jumpers set properly and do you have a boot loader selected?? I would start out with those things. |
how can i restore my system if i cannot go to linux.. i have grub bootloader(where can i change settings where it boots or something.. ) and when i select linux it starts to load kernel but eventually it says "kernel panic VFS: couldn't find root on 16:07" and halt's there... i cant type anything or do anything. i can go to windows xp (it's on grub's selections) and i think my jumpers are allright because i put new hard disk to secondary master and i didn't change anything on primary hard disk (i think)

Well, if I had to guess, I would say that your kernel has become corrupted. I think you're in for a world of hurt here. I think you're better off just doing a fresh install of Linux. Sorry but I don't know anything about compliling kernels. I leave that to the experts. :)
Can you boot XP okay or is that screwed up as well?? If so, then I would just start over and select LILO this time. Some don't like it, but I think i'ts better because LILo resides in your MBR. |
my XP works nice.. ..... ill get suse cd's from my friend tomorrow so ill install it again..

k, good luck, man
