Kernel panic after update, fedora 15 64 bits
I know little about Fedora and I've got a problem that I am unable to solve. Each time I update the kernel, I've got the problem that vmware doesn't work anymore. Sometimes I uninstall vmware and reinstall it and it works but sometimes not. Last time, gedit didn't work anymore either.
So today, I have updated the kernel and had the same problem. So reading in fora, I've followed a suggestion and installed the kernel-pae, version 18.104.22.168-1.fc15.i686.PAE
I've got a 64bit fedora 15. And then I compared the kernel version with uname -r. As the versions were different, so I rebooted. And then, I got
runaway loop modprobe binfint-464c
kernel panic-not syncing: no init found
And if I try to boot with the old versions of the kernel (any of the three other ones available) I just arrive until the "f" in the circle from Fedora and it gets stuck there.
Anyone could give me a hand?
If your fedora system is 64 bit,the kernel you installed must be 64 bit also.
22.214.171.124-1.fc15.i686.PAE is 32 bit kernel.
In fact, it came from the fact that I had installed the nDivia nouveau as well. So I forced the system to use the original nDivia, see here http://www.if-not-true-then-false.co...install-guide/ point 5

And I uninstalled the kernel-PAE 32 bits
