Kernel Compile: page_cache_release error

I try to upgrade my kernel 2.4.17 to the new 2.4.18 but I get this error when I try to make bzImage:

fs/fs.o: In function `generic_cont_expand':
fs/fs.o(.text+0x4a3e): undefined reference to `page_cache_release'
fs/fs.o: In function `cont_prepare_write':
fs/fs.o(.text+0x4b39): undefined reference to `page_cache_release'
fs/fs.o(.text+0x4c27): undefined reference to `page_cache_release'
fs/fs.o: In function `block_truncate_page':
fs/fs.o(.text+0x4e79): undefined reference to `page_cache_release'
fs/fs.o: In function `block_symlink':
fs/fs.o(.text+0x5638): undefined reference to `page_cache_release'
fs/fs.o(.text+0x5665): more undefined references to `page_cache_release' follow
make: *** [vmlinux] Error 1

Often in previous line, I can see "warning" about "page_cache_release redifined"

Anyone saw this bug before? I compiled kernel 2.4.18 on another computer yesterday and it worked fine, I don't understand.

I had errors similar to this when I tried to patch the kernel and the patches were not installed properly. Make sure that you always compile a clean kernel. Try to remove the options in the config file that relate to the problem, looks like a filesystem thing, haven't a clue as to what though.

I will try (again) but this is a new complete kernel, it is suppose to be clean... And I already tried of removing option in fs but I still have the same error...
