Kernel Compile


I recompiled my kernel, and i got this warning "kernel s to big for standalone boot from floppy" what should i do? i can't get this kernel to boot.

Are you sure that you cant leave some stuff out ? or use some modules?

It should still boot from HD shouldn't it? Anyway, things like soundcarddrivers can(/should?) be loaded as modules perfectly. Also check if you compile any drivers/code for hardware you don't have.

It's a problem only if you want boot it from floppy.
For an usual HD boot just forgot about it.

Hey what do you nead to boot this big kernel from flippy for any way? Do you play mp3`s while installing your new distro or something? No but serius what is it you nead this big kernel for? XFS support or something?
