Kernel 2.6.3 with mm4

Hi there,

as needed for my seagate sata drive and my siimage 3112a I patched and compiled kernel 2.6.3 to -mm4. Successfully! I get now 54MB/sec without any hangs!
But my problem:
modprobe writes: "QM_MODULES: Function not implemented"
So I'm not able to load any modules, and so my NIC and soundblaster doesn't work
And also a big problem:
When I press a key on keyboard and move the mouse at the same time, mouse freezes. Pressing 2 times NUMLOCK "anti-freezes" it and I can go on with work...

Would be great if someone could help me!

You need to install a newer version of module_init_tools. You can find the files at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/util...le-init-tools/

Not sure why the keyboard and mouse are acting goofy, but you might check your kernel config and see if you compiled in the right support.

Well, the tools were on my cds, insalled and everything went fine!
Thanks!

After some playing with the config mouse works well (still don't know why, but it works )

So here my last problems:
At boot I get module supermount not found, I even didn't find the module in xconfig. But I found something like automount 4, so if it works, where can I deactivate supermount?

My soundchip is a emu10k1, and I use ALSA. The driver is set to Y, but the only prog that can access to it is XMMS in ALSA mode. So I don't get sounds in KDE and other programs...
Even OSS emulation doesn't work. It IS enabled...

And my last problem...
When booting, the kernel tries to access hdg, but I don't have a drive called hdg! So it doesn't find anything. It tries to access it 3 times. It gives me "no response (status = 0xfe).
Probably 'cause its a raid controller?
It's not a real problem, but it costs a lot of time (I think more than booting up the whole system...)

Hi there,

switched back to SuSE 9 a long time ago, and solved nearly all problems:

-automount is now configured in the kernel and works well =)

-emu10k1 works as module

-"no response" problem solved by giving a boot parameter "hdg=none" in menu.lst from grub

but!!

As you know is there an siimage controller with a seagate HDD, and with Kernel 2.6.5-mm2 it still hangs while copying files! It just works a short time very well, but it seems after copying some larger files (>500megs) it freezes...
Please help me here...

This is a different problem that the one that started this thread, so I'd start a new thread (probably the hardware forum).
