Kernal source code

Hi,

I need a copy of the complete source code of the linux kernal for a report at Uni, but I need it in a form that can be read using windows as I dont have Linux installed on my pc at the min.

Any ideas were I can get a copy from?

Cheers

Download it from kernel.org
Unpack it with WinZip
Read it with anything but notepad

If it is an newline problem as mcleodnine is suggesting then try NoteTab.
http://www.notetab.com/ntl-dnld1.htm

And use UltimateZip rather than WinZip
http://www.ultimatezip.com/download.htm
(not that you need to but there are no annoying nag screens ;))

Any more ideas?

You just need a simple Text app that can read unix text files, not DOS ones, iirc.
If you plan to edit it, you should have one of these already, or at least just open it in a linux app.

Does the file not extract?

It's like 180mb untarred!

Unless you want a zillion emails, that's gonna be rough. However, I'd be glad to host it uncompressed, and then you can download it from me (not very fast upload though). If you are interested in that, let me know.

You should be getting this file:
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kern...2.4.20.tar.bz2

And using those zip programs to unzip it.

Then from there, regardless of where you get the source (from me which will be the same 34MB (compressed) file, only uncompressed), you will still need the same app to view it. So it's the viewing app that is giving you the problems, give the link above a try.

Cool
