kdm/xdm question

hello

if I start kdm or xdm I can log in (username and password ar OK) but no WindowManager is loaded.

Which config file should I look at to set the script that will start up my windowmanager of choice?

until now, I always log in into the console, and then start up X with the sommand startx (the config file xinitrc is used)

thanks

.xinitrc and .xsession would be good places to start.

After you edit .xsession, you can edit /etc/init.d/xdm - kdm - gdm
to set any of these Managers as default for startup.
HEED_DEFAULT_DISPLAY_MANAGER=false/ture

thanks. BUT: .xsession doesnt exists at all, and xinitrc is a self-hacked file, which needs parameters to start.

can anyone send me a good example?

besides: I dont have /etx/init.d/kdm (or such) cos when building my system, I completely left out graphics. it was just a later add-on...

thanks anyway.
