kde3.2 won't start on Slackware 9.1

Hello,

I have Slackware 9.1 installed on my dell laptop, still running pre 2.6 kernel ??2.4??, updated all the dang new qt's and such (dial up bites)

Everything works fine except my fresh install of kde 3.2

I installed from konstruct and after a 10 hour compile I would love to see it, but all I get is 3.1

I have tried the various methods in other posts, but still haven't been able to get it to run.

I used konstruct while logged in as root..... bad, but I was sleepy.

Startx works fine and loads whatever I pick...kde 3.2 isn't listed

startkde gives me a nice new login screen, but no new kde.

have tried the pathing thing with nodaemon and still 3.1.

tried burning eyes out with hot poker and hitting random keystrokes... hurt like hell... 3.1 loads again LOL

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

i hate kde3.2 - it seems to be causing hundreds of problems with slackware. get dropline gnome - www.dropline.net - itll install automatically (although it takes about 2 hrs to download all the stuff on adsl - good luck) and will soothe your burnt out eyes.

Just about to do just that.... heck while I'm waiting for some more idea's I will.....

Still, after all this I would really like to see 3.2 <grin>

i managed to use it for a bit (without any sound) and didnt see what was so special. seemed pretty similar to 3.1, with a few new graphics. and it didnt work.

i know how u feel - unfortunately theres no correlation with how hard you try for something and how good it actually is, just how good it feels. i accept that it would have been nice to get the sense of achievement of making it work, but now i cant be bothered to try any more...
