kde user switching

Hi,
I am using kde 3.3 on debian-testing and I would like to have some type of fast user-switching function. On my SUSE box, I have a switch user option in my kde menu, and
docs.kde.org/development/en/kdebase/userguide/switching-sessions.html
says it should be there, but there is no such option on my debian box.

As far as I know, you have to be using kdm in order to enable that feature in KDE. Are you using kdm, or any other display manager? I also found this blurb about fast user switching in the kde docs.

I am using kdm.
I have looked at kdmrc and compared it with the one from my SUSE box (where user switching works) I have removed ServerVTs=-7 from my debian kdmrc: it might be what I need to enable user switching, only I don't have a menu option for it. I have also not been able to spacify more than one VT in kdmrc.

I remember using KDE 3.3 on debian and also not seeing that option. When I upgraded to KDE 3.4 in the experimental repository, that option was suddenly there. I know that doesn't really help, unless you want to try upgrading to 3.4.

I don't mind it very much, but are you sure it is a good idea to use experimental?
Do you have an idea when KDE 3.4 will be unstable?
I still find it strange that on my SUSE box, I am able to use user switching with KDE 3.3. Perhaps there is another way to do the user-switching (bypass the menu option)

If you have gdm installed then you can do it by issuing the command "gdmflexiserver" without the quotations.

You can then switch between users with ctrl + alt + F7/F8/F9 etc.

If you're happy with this you should create a menu item for ease of use.

I guess this will only work if I use gdm instead of kdm?
