KDE under Debian 3.0
I just installed Debian and started up X, but even though I set up my desktop to not have a larger virtual screen than physical screen, the resolution is always 480x640 and I the resolution that I chose when configuring is virtual. This translates to horrible quality and a lot of scrolling. What did I do wrong and how do I correct this? I already ran xf86config, but this did not seem to help at all.

Why not use the KDE control center ?

debian config
Debian 3.0 doesn't use the xf86config file, instead it used XF86CONFIG-4 which is in the /etc/X11 directory. The best, super-easy way to get what you want is to type (as root)
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 you'll find options for your screen size in the panels that follow. Good luck! |
