kde startup with esd?
ive had problems with my sound, and when i logged into gnome, they were solved, and im thinking that the solution was gnome's use of esd. but since i use kde, i need to know how to have esd start on kde startup. anyone?
What do you mean , that in kde there is no sound at all ? Cause if thats true what you might have to do is go to kde's control panel and activate its sound deamon cause sometimes it isnt defaulted to start after a fresh install . The kde sound deamon is called artsd , its fairly easy to setup in the control panel. Try that out. Its in your start menu.

i used arts, and it hogged /dev/dsp so i couldnt run games with sound. now when i disable arts and use raw alsa, the game sound works fine, but sounds like when i close a window are choppy. but with esd, games worked with sound and no choppy sound with usual apps. thats why i wanna know how to get esd to start with kde.
