KDE startup failure from gdm
First off a little background: I ran linux through college (Redhat 6), got done school, switched back to windows, and now I'm back to Redhat 9.
When I try to boot up redhat 9, kde 3 shows no sign of running. I get no login prompt, only a blue screen with the hourglass. If I switch to runlevel 3, kill all the gdm related stuff (gdm-binary,xfs...so on), start xfs and then run startx kde runs fine, but with a catch: theres only one user that can get it to start -- root can't get it, and neither can any of the other users. I checked /var/log/messages and /var/log/XFree*
My guess is something is keeping the one user name logged in (perhaps a restore session file somewhere?)
