KDE sound system doesn't play system notifications in SUSE with OSS driver
Hey,
I set up sound on SUSE 10.1 using the OSS sound driver that you download from their site. I have a neomagic soundcard on my laptop, so this was the only option. Anyway, the driver worked fine and is working extremely well for music and all that, but the KDE soundsystem doesn't play any system notifications or anything. In the sound configuration in Personal Settings, the options are Autodetect, Alsa, Open Sound system, and Threaded Open Sound system. Now I think the Open Sound system option is for the old open sound system that comes installed default with the kernel. Either way, when I try choosing Open sound system, the restarting sound system dialog comes up and keeps repeating, trying to restart the sound system with OSS but never gets anywhere, so finally I have to cancel it. The other options succeed in restarting the sound system and setting whatever as the sound system, but no sound for the system notifications come out. Is there any way to use the Open Sound System driver that i installed as the sound system for KDE?
Any help would greatly be appreciated.
By the way my kernel version, if you need it, is 2.6.16.13-4-default.
Thanks in advance, and if you need any more information, just let me know.
