I have recently purchased a Macbook Pro and installed Kubuntu 11.04 onto it. Although I always use the Fluxbox window manager, KDE is still running in the background and the KDE system settings carry through into Fluxbox. I have been running this set-up on various PCs for about four years just fine.

However with this new computer, any changes I make to Input Devices > Touchpad are not being saved and upon logging back in, I have to make these changes again. This is quite frustrating.

I have tried to resolve the issue by removing the ~/.kde folder thinking something might be corrupted but it hasn't helped. I can see that the timestamp of the file .kde/share/config/systemsettingsrc is changing when I make changes but a diff shows that the content has not changed whatsoever.

I have not tried changing any other part of System Settings so I don't know if it's a global thing or just the touchpad settings.

Any ideas?

I haven't resolved the KDE issue but I have worked around it by modifying some xorg properties as described on this page.

It might be useful for others if a resolution is found for this.
