KDE Session Management - not restoring sessions
I'm running kde 3.3.2 level "A" on Suse Linux 9.1, upgraded from KDE 3.2.1
Session Management I am having problems with the session manager. In kcontrol -> Session Manager I have (Restore previous session) selected but when I end a KDE session with kmix, ksmb4k, and kopete running (or any mix of them, or even just one of them - basically anything in the "system tray") those applications are not restored. If I have a konqueror window open when I log out, when I log back in konqueror will open, but not to the location where it was last opened (e.g., if I had it opened to /etc/apache2 when I logged out, it will open a blank konqueror window when I log back in). What is going on here? I did recently upgrade from 3.2, so are there any changes in the config file format, and anything I should either edit by hand or simply send to the bit bucket? |
Some more info on this:
If I ctrl-alt-backspace and log in manually, an old session is restored. If the system boots and logs me in automatically, I start with a new session (my old session is not restored) Is there a document/whitepaper anywhere outlining how this is supposed to work, or which covers KDE configuration files? I'd really love to get to the bottom of this. |
BoingBoingBoing!!! Yes, this is a bump!

Hmm well I never did figure out which rc file was mucking it up. I got sick of dealing with it so I tarred my home folder, deleted the account, created a new account (same UID) and restored my data files and selectively restored rc files for various apps. This is still perplexing me though - any functional or design specs for kwin's config files floating around?
