Suddenly my KDE isn't working. I boot the system, the graphical
login comes up, I click my user name and enter my password. Then the
screen goes as if starting, but nothing comes up. Only the default
blue pattern screen. And the mouse will move, but no right click,
etc.
try to search info from /var/log/Xorg.0.log (of XFree86.0.log if you use XFree), or by typing dmesg in console; they ought to reveal if something visible is going on. you can also try to create a brand new user, log in as him/her and see if that succeeds - if it does, then it's only your personal settings that have problems (so you only have to check them out for errors), but if that does not work either, then it's something bigger.
that's a start, at least....also, did you update something just before the problem? if so, check the config files you possibly got/altered when you did so, or try downgrading to an earlier version or something...
