KDE-Office vs OpenOffice ?

hey guys.. its been a long time since ive used open office (when REDHAT 9 was released)

anyways... ive seen a much newer version of kde-office working, and was impressed, it supports MS .doc formats etc etc.

anyways, does OpenOffcie still not support .doc format ?

also, what are the other pro's and cons ?

im facing some NASTY compile times for office packeages, so id rather not have to do this twice.

thanks

I've never had any issues using Open Office with MS filetypes. My boxes running RH9 all open all MS Office filetypes without too much hassle (sometimes macros throw a wobbley). There has been a marked improvement in OOo since the RH9 days.

Purely personal preference is to go for OOo. I keep giving KOffice a go but just can't get used to it.

Open office supports .doc format, in my opinion much better the koffice. It also supports .xls and powerpoint docs. The only issue I have with OO is it takes ages to start up. That said its much better, much more featurefull office software.

I like openoffice more than koffice. Powerpoint is supported by openoffice as well which is great if you need some windows compatibility.
