KDE Menu Entries Have Disappeared

i recently updated to KDE 3.5.3 and now find that several menu entries are missing. However, if i enter the Menu Editor they appear therein. i've tried making a change and saving the new configuration but the entries are still missing.

Any ideas?

Try the following, delete .config/menus and .local/share/Applications. After that restart KDE.
