KDE Login Manager

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me how to disable the KDE login manager that appears on bootup. It uses 10M of memory, but most of the time on a server it will just sit there doing nothing.

I want KDE available to me if I want it, but not to start by default. I have looked through all of the options under KDE, but you can't disable it. I have also looked at the boot options on my machine, but the kde login manager doesn't appear to be something I can control at boot time.

Cheers

If you want to boot to console, edit your /etc/inittab file. You should see something like si:#:initdefault:. If you change the number at # to 3, you will boot to console. Then whenever you need a graphical environment you can use startx.
