found a setting on the Konsole in KDE 3.2.1 that turns off the borders on the konsole window. when you activate it you get a message that says to turn the borders back on hit Alt-F3, but on Slackware, that key combination puts you into another terminal window (tty3)
does anyone know how to get the borders back on konsole? is there a conf file somewhere that can be edited?
thanks.

thats the problem, its not really a konsole problem as much as it is a kde problem. i guess i should have said how to do it, sorry. let me reiterate, this is a kde 3.2.1 issue, not just konsole (sorry for the confussion)
in any kde app window, if you right click the title bar and select advanced you will see a "no border" option. if you click it, you will get the message on how to get the border back (Alt-F3).
i figured it out. i have a wireless keyboard that has alternate functions for the F keys for M$ Office. there is a lock key on the keyboard to switch between normal functions and the Office functions. hitting htat key turned it back on and i can use the Alt-F3 to get the window menu to appear and turn the border back on for my konsole window
thanks for pointing me to that, it really helped to get me to the right solution.
