kde konqueror vs shell
I'm confused again, When I view an executable file's properties in konqueror I see the ownership as root, but when I change the ownership using the bash shell chown command, I do see the change in the shell, but konqueror still shows the old ownership. Closing and reopening Konq. dosen't help.
I can change the ownership in Konq by logging in as root user, but.......but the file still won't run when I click on the konq icon, but it runs fine when I type ./filename, or even just filename in the bash shell. The path to this file is in my PATH. This is the case for the root user and a regular user. I set the permissions to 555 for this file, in both Konq and the shell. How do you run a file from Konq? Could a file have 2 sets of permissions or ownerships? I've got a whoe book on KDE, but nothing anywhere on this topic. Almost forgot, my distro is suse 8.0. Thanks |
