KDE desktop sharing ???

i have the KDE desktop sharing configured (KDE 3.3 on Debian-sarge) and when running through the configuration tool it has a check box to 'always show background picture' so i uncheck it to increase performance, yet the background pic is still there when i connect?

do i need to restart X or am i missing something?

would still love some help with this. over a LAN the bandwidth is not as much of an issue, but coming from the WAN side with the upspeeds at my home are not high enough to deal with the heavy graphics of the background. Id love to know how to make the background graphics not appear.

i know that in windows via TS (ternimal service aka RDP) this is doable with the windows XP client, is this possible with the KDE remote desktop client/server?

Use tightvnc instead, it runs faster even with the background turned on, and is much easier to configure.

yes it does, but unless you are using x11vnc -many and keep that terminal open forever you can not gain direct access to the working desktop and get an other virtual desktop.

i want direct controll over the users active desktop.
