Question KDE desktop crashes on mepis over slackware

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I'm trying to wipe out a slackware install and put on Simply Mepis.

It works fine up until right after I log in. Whether I log is as root or as demo, it doesn't matter. After a while, it gives up and gives me a message about KDE not being loaded.

I've tried 3 or 4 times now.

Did you format the partition or just overwritten it?

Try to make a new user - adduser <username>
- passwd <username>

Finally, ever tried Debian? It's a very nice and rock-stable distro...

I installed Debian, however during loading it says...
"Grub loading, please wait.
Error 21"

I've googled for "error 21", all the hits I got seem to be related to games. I just want to use this thing for a fileserver.

I've tried several other distros, Mepis and Mandriva. I get the error 21 deal at bootup.

Grub error 21 means "Can not find disk". Check your grub config and make sure you have the correct setup
