KDE Default Browser Problems with firefox and thunderbird

I've searched for a similar problem, but not able to find help yet..

I want to be able to open all links in firefox, but they all keep opening in Konqueror. I've gone to the kcontrol screen and put firefox at the top, added the %u, taken it out and tried that, and all that jazz... But, everytime I click a link from thunderbird, it opens in konqueror.

Any ideas anyone? BTW, this isn't something that changes when I login/logout, it just never starts working.

I'm using Mandrake 10.1, kde 3.2

Thanks!

You could try to change the definition of the variable BROWSER.

The Firefox help file says there is an option in Edit -> Preferences -> General but on 1.0 in Linux, it isn't present.
You may also want to change the KDE 'File Associations' setting for Text->HTML and add Firefox to the top of the list.

I have firefox at the top of the list in text/html. I'm not sure about the variable changing in firefox 1.0.. can you give me more detail on that? Is it something I can change in chrome, if not in the prefs?

Thanks for the help!

I had the same problem, using Mandrake 10.1, KDE 3.2 and Firefox 1.0. I had to install firefox and thunderbird as root. Then I had to use the %s instead of %u, which only resultet in firefox opening www.whatuseek.com, using only firefox command without any handles resultet in firefox opening start page. But when I used %s it worked like a charm.

And if you already haven't done it, you will need to set firefox as default browser in Gnome as well.

Hope this will help you too.

Cheers.
