kde - debian testing: where do I set up ripping to ogg options?
 

I'm on debian testing (just updated) and I can't find the place where I could setup quality to use when ripping CDs from dolphin (which is set up through KDE multimedia settings, right?). Where is it done now? Do I have to install some additional package so that I can do it?

Sorry, but aren't you using K3b to do your ripping?

I could even do it by console. I have no problem finding a means for it _but_ I'd like to do it automagically using dolphin's shell (select tracks, copy to your FS, everybody happy). The shell is covering a lot of ground like getting the artist name, album name, song title, track number, etc... and you could generate FLAC, ogg, mp3, wav, etc. So the only thing missing is the quality (the quality that it's using is too low for my tastes). I know that it could be set up but after the update to kde 5 (is it 5?) I can't find the place to do it.

Welcome to the [sarcasm]wonderful world of KDE5[/sarcasm]. For my ripping needs I have only ever used K3b and I don't even use Dolphin as my file-manager (I use Konqueror). Anyway, maybe someone more knowledgeable than me can help you out.

Would like to continue using dolphin but I'll stick to using k3b for the time being... looks like it's got all the stuff I need.

I know how to mark a thread as solved.... but it's not :-). I still don't know how to set ogg encoding options on KDE 5 so this thread will remain open.... till an answer comes up... sometime in the not so distant future, let's hope.

1. Make sure you have the kio-audiocd package installed.
2. You can use Dolphin. Go to Settings-->Configure Dolphin-->Services

Don't have those services listed. When searching for services, I see a service called 'kde-services' that lists stuff like encoding video and audio. I didn't download it and I also checked if there is a 'kde-services' package available with apt-cache and there's none with that name.

Have you installed the kio-audiocd package?
