KDE crashes on startup

Well recently my KDE has started crashing on startup. It'll get to a phase like perihperals then just hang. When i reboot and retry logging in it'll hang a little furthur on, until it finally boots up. I dont have this problem in GNOME though, or running as root. Though i would really like to get my KDE working always as user. Anyone have any idea of what might be happening? I'm pretty clueless.
KDE has worked for two months but after an update or something it's been acting funny. I do ant apt-get update/upgrade daily (debian sarge), so it's not about having the latest version... It's really frustrating, after getting used to KDE to have it crash. I did a search on this topic and have seen a few others that havent been answered. Hope someone can help now. Thanks

if you can stand to lose your settings, i would try deleting or moving the .kde directory in your home dir to see if some setting is messing it up.
