My KDE control center modules have suddenly disappeared. When I open kcontrol, there are no icons on the left panel. What I was doing before that happened, I was simply editing some kmenu entries and I also uninstalled openoffice.org and acrobat reader.
However, if I open kcontrol as another user, it works perfectly.
In addition, if I open konqueror and type settings:// in the address bar, I can see only the menu editor. But if I type for example settings://Sound or settings://Desktop , I have access to these modules.
What is going on here?
Help me please.
Yes, I tried that but there are so many files in there that I am getting lost. And most of them are not related to kcontrol.
Does anybody know where does kcontrol get the modules from?
Well, I deleted the whole ~/.kde and all the directories that symlinks in ~/.kde pointed to, then I killed X and logged in again. Kde started with all the defaults, like it was when I installed suse. BUT, kcontrol still has no modules. !!!!!!!
(I kept backup and I restored everything after I saw it was not working)
There is a kcontrol bug in KDE3.4. You won't be able to get into the Login Manager (in Administrator mode) from Control Center, unless you open kcontrol as a root user.
From a terminal after su'ing, start kcontrol and the Login manager works. Hoepefully it will get fixed.
