kde cant execute matlab

Hi all i really like to execute commands from kde by hitting alt+f2 and then typign the command i want.. So when i press alt+f2 and i type matlab.. the matlab seems to be starting (the first matlab screen appears ==>boot logo) but after a while it dissapears and matlab never start....
I can launch matlab from konsole simply typing matlab and pressing enter...
Can u suggest me a fix for that?

Start it from the konsole, to see waht happens.
Another way to debug it is launching it from the konsole via strace:
Code:
strace mathlab

Hmmm, this strace thingy was just to let us see what fails, LOL...
If you want to detach mathlab from the console you can always tipe
Code:
mathlab &
...

That's why I wanted to know the output of strace. In the last 10 or so lines you can see what was the last thing to be invoqued and that failed.

Perhaps a call to a GTK function, or something thelike.
