KDE can't launch apps after Kppp, and I cant logout without crashing

Once I log into my ISP with Kppp, and I try to run anything from kde,
I get an error like this:
KLauncher could not be reached via DCOP.

I can run some (ver few) non-kde applications and scripts from the run applet, but other than that I am unable to execute anything after I use Kppp.

Also, I have tried to logout of KDE, but the screen goes black, and hangs with my mouse pointer still active, and when it finally crahses I am unable to use startx (It just hangs until I killall startx)

I am running KDE 3 on a slackware system (2.4 kernel) with packages from slackware current shortly after slackware 10 was released.

thanks in advance

KDE has a lot of bugs. I get an error logging out of KDE about 30% of the time even if I do nothing in KDE. I also sometimes run into the problem with the screen going blank and the mouse freezing on log out. I'm hoping someone will start fixing bugs in KDE instead of just adding more and more features with bugs.

One other bug you are likely to run into is the KDE help index cannot be built.
You don't see an obvious error until you look at the details of the build. Then you will see that you get an "'htdig' failed" error.

Some of the KDE bugs have work arounds. You can find information on the KDE site, and probably other posts here as well.

doesnt really matter, as it seems this error doesn't always occur (now my system is fine...)

thanks anyway...
