Hi all do u know where i can find kde 3.5 packages in order to install it on my suse 10? Plz dont tell me check this link has all the packages... i need an easy way to do that.. perhaps using yast.. or something like that..
thx a lot
Most of these mirrors have the supplementary folder, in which you find the KDE update. With the command (as root) installation_sources -a <URL> pointing to the directory called 'yast-source' under that tree, you can install the KDE update easily through YaST
i have added the sources to yast succesfully.. the problem now is that i dont know how to upgrade packages :P
I have selected some packages and put them to update status so as to be updated but didnt work..
The list should show all packages that are newer than the installed versions in blue. You can either select all blue packages until the green update sign appears (this is recommended if yopu have other sources installed and you only want to update the KDE packages). To update all packages that have a newer version available, select from the 'Package' menu -> 'All in this list' -> Update if newer version available'. You may get dependency conflict, if packages have been merged. You can post them and we'll see.
thx i have selected from the list installation summary and i have also ticked the keep button.. I have noticed that the most of kde apps appear red coloured and cant be updated.. perhaps that means that i have added in a wrong way the sources
In yast i select Installation source
The first line that has status on has the address of ftp.ntua.gr/pub/linux/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_10.0/yast-source/
The sceond line that has status on has the address
ftp.ntua.gr/and fianpub/linux/suse/i386/10.0/SUSE-Linux10.0-GM-Extra
and finally the third one is the
ftp.ntua.gr/pub/linux/suse/i386/10.0/inst-source-extra
all other lines are set to off..
So what should i do
now to upgrade my kde to version 3.5?
Thx a lot
Thx a lot now a new line is added to the top of Installation source and it is the
ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_10.0/yast-source
thx a lot but know the yast when i try to upgrade the kde tone of conflicts appear... So how can i install kde 3.5 in an easy way?
This is probably overkill but it's a good idea to have these sources in YaST either way. Add the follow sources to yast. When you're upgrading to 3.5 if you run into a dependency problem it's a good idea to have these sources in yast.
Thx a lot now a new line is added to the top of Installation source and it is the
ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_10.0/yast-source
thx a lot but know the yast when i try to upgrade the kde tone of conflicts appear... So how can i install kde 3.5 in an easy way?
Hmm, I just tried the update myself and do not get a single dependency issue. Can you post the conflicts?

Hi abisk00 how have u understand that my ftp site wasnt correct?
The greek site you used previously was not complete. This is why you couldn't run a proper update. But ftp.gwdg.de is the main SUSE mirror, so this site should work.
