Unhappy KDE 3.5.4 killed my fonts

After updating KDE to 3.5.4, all my fonts are accessible ONLY to root, so I have these really ugly fonts in the place of everything. I tried disabling/enabling anti-aliasing and restarting KDE, but that didn't work. Any ideas? Running Fedora Core 5.

Where are your fonts located?
Mine are below /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/ so I'd just go there and change the permissions in the subfolders (like chmod -R o=r *).

That directory doesn't exist, but there is a /usr/share/fonts that contains 3 folders: bitmap-fonts, bitstream-vera, default.
