KDE 3.5.2 not displaying fonts properly

I recently compiled KDE 3.5.2 on my LFS system and KDE runs, but it doesn't seem to be loading the fonts properly, and all I get is a bunch of little squares instead of characters.

I'm not using an exotic locale (en_US), so I'm not sure what's wrong. Is it not finding the fonts?

Help would be appreciated.
