KDE 3.2.1 upgrade, Fatal IO error

I just installed KDE 3.2.1. When I start X, it goes through the KDE load process, then the splash disappears and I'm left with a grey screen and a mouse. I Ctrl+Alt+Backspace'd to find a whole string of error messages:

Could not dlopen library /opt/kde/lib/ undefined symbol: _ZNK5KUser9loginNameEv
kcminit: relocation error: /opt/kde/lib/ undefined symbol: _ZNK8KService8propertyERK7QStringN8QVariant4TypeE
lots more of the same sort of thing for,, etc, etc...
DCOP aborting call from 'anonymous-1673' to 'kdesktop'
ERROR: Communication problem with kdesktop, it probably crashed.
some more of the 'Could not dlopen library' stuff
ksmserver: Fatal IO error: client killed
ICE default IO error handler doing an exit(), pid = 1695, errno = 0
xinit: connection to X server lost.
startkde: Shutting down...
aeiri@localhost:~$ KLauncher: Exiting on signal 1
startkde: Running shutdown scripts...
startkde: Done.
I can't get into KDE whatsoever, and I'm posting this via lynx (I had to type that all up by switching terminals :/).

I'm on Slackware 9.1, XFree86 4.3.0, Kernel 2.4.22.
