Kate Crashing

I don't know if anyone here has had this problem and has a fix so I don't have to bang my head of the keyboard for hours trying to fix this, but the editor kate is crashing every time I close the last document in it, I can have 10 documents open and close all of them fine but the last one, when I close the last one it crashes every time, its getting very frusterating as I use kate many hours a day, this is a new computer I am using so it is a fresh install of redhat 7.2, I did a server install and only choose kde extra in the install, then the only things I installed after that were webmin and opera, both by rpm, any suggestions on what might be up with this? Thanks

Doesn't it leave any error output when it crashes? Maybe try reproduce crashing but starting it from a "konsole" will get you some. Usually posting these will give ppl a better idea then posting "it crashes"...

I found this thread while googeling. Im not sure how old it is but Im having this problem as well. I suspect its qt31 thats unhappy.
this is one of my related error messages:

QImage::setColor: Index 218 out of range
kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: Undef ined symbol "init_kcm_printmgr"
kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: The l ibrary kcm_printmgr does not offer an init_kcm _printmgr function
ASSERT: "!name.isEmpty()" in kinstance.cpp (55 )
QToolBar::QToolBar main window cannot be 0.
KCrash: crashing.... crashRecursionCounter = 2
KCrash: Application Name = kcontrol path = <un known> pid = 42637

bsd# whereis QToolBar

im sure others have found the answer (other than rm -rf ~/.xinitrc)
