Kaffeine "freezes" at 50%

With Mepis 6.0 Kaffeine was working fine on mms and asf audio. Then for reasons I don't know it started freezing on those particular files at 50%. I've reinstalled kaffeine, mozilla mplayer, and everything related but I still can't get it to work on those files. I can get mms and asf to work imbedded w/o kaffeine involved. I've had this problem in other distros but I don't remember how I solved it. Can anyone point me to fix? Thanks.

Well, i don't actually know what the solution is, but i will tell you what i will do if such thing will happen to me:
1. I will check my glibc files and version.
2. I will try to check if the problem is about the kernel.
3. I will check my KDE Files.
I hope this will help you...

Maybe you could install the binary codecs from xinehq.de 's website. Kaffeine uses xine's engine and there are ways where you can install files to let you play some formats you could'nt otherwise play. There should be instructions on the site.

I just looked up the page you can get the win32 codecs from: http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/

Thanks for the replies, I'll give it a shot. The fact it was working fine until I upgraded with synaptic is was I don't get.
