Kaffeine and DVD playback

I downloaded Kaffeine to my Slackware 9.1 and tried installing, which there were some dependency problems requiring me to upgrade Xine. Well, once I upgraded Xine using SWareT, I got Kaffeine to install. It works great, except for DVDs. I can't even get them to load. It keeps coming up with...

The source can't be read.

Maybe you don't have enough rights for this, or source doesn't contain data (e.g: no disc in drive. (dev/cdrom)

/dev/cdrom is where my DVD drive is located and I am logged in as root. I'm fairly certain that this little shiny round thing that says "Lord of the Rings" is a DVD. That kind of eliminates everything that it popped up with. I have tried a few other movies also and they were all the same.

I tried using Xine and it comes up with "Error reading NAV packet"

I've triple checked all dependencies and keep trying different settings, but nothing seems to work. So, any help with this would be appreciated.
