hi,

i just downloaded the new x86 codecs for suse 9.2 and they were tar.bz2 files
using it on a 64 bit computer.
so i untarred them in a folder but how do I install these codecs now?

its not x86, but I got the codecs just dont know how to install them after i untarred them.

hi there,

some points:
kaeffeine is just a GUI - front end.
afaik it uses the xine player. you can check their website
to install codecs, i think is necessary to recompile the software. you can't just copy somewhere and it will work. you need to recompile it.

Try /usr/lin/win32. I don't use Kafeine, but I have gsed GXine, which is also a front end for Xine, and looks for codecs in this folder by default. It might be safe to assume, therefore, that this is the default location for Kaffeine as well.

I guess the codecs will always be 32bit (since they are for microsoft windows). I would stiil suggest to try the rpm, but if you want to stick to the tar.bz2, you could help us to provbide the source of this files.

I think hand_of_fate wanted to refer to /usr/lib/win32. If it does not exist, you may create it.

You may also specify another location in the settings of gxine/kaffeine etc.
