Kaffeine 1.2.2 buggy and missing half the features of 0.8

I've recently switched to Kubuntu 12.04. The version of Kaffiene that comes when you click the install button is 1.2.2. It has some annoying bugs (eg: if you don't keep one tuner card free, it will crash recordings & you cant select a channel to watch from the guide) and most of the configuration settings options are gone. Previously I used to Kaffeine 0.8something. I've tried downloading and installing an older version of a .deb file but it didn't work. Is there a not-too-technical version of downgrading Kaffeine?
