Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

step 5 of 6 setup some necessary permission for k3b

Location: a tiny place caled hendrik ido ambacht in the netherlands
Distribution: SuSE, debian, slackware, lfs
Yes I meant just typing "k3b" in the terminal. That way you get a lot of info on the terminal where you start the program.
Any way, what's the output when "k3b" has frozen?
You can also subscribe to the k3b mailing list. They have more info on this sort of thing.
If I am understanding right, the k3bsetup is hanging on step 5, adding users, did you add any users? Is there a group defined in CD Writing Group (in my case it the group name is cdrecording)? Do you have the checkbox checked to have K3B make the changes to cdrecord and cdrdao? Another thought, try running setup as root, maybe the user ID you are using does not have permissions to modify permissions ;-) Hope that helps....
