K3B recorder, How do you burn a 7.9 GB file into two DVD Diskettes?

To whom it may concern

I have a file 7.9 GB and I'm trying to split it or burn into two DVD's disk (4.7 GB each). How do I configure or run K3b DVD recorder to burn the file into two DVD diskettes? What do I select or option do i choose on K3b recorder? thanks

Well this would be a work-around, but you could use split and make two separate 4GB files and then burn them onto discs

split  --suffix-length=1  --bytes=4500m  Hugefile.iso

That should split you into 4.5GB chunks

Well, I would not guarantee you that the .iso file will not end up corrupt after using the split command. I think split simply cuts the two files in two or however many parts you want. The .ISO file is probably a structured file meaning it has a format that if you were to split it it would not do you much good to have them.

The real question would be: what's in that huge .ISO file. If it is a movie you may want to make an .mpg file and then split it, then re-convert it into a dvd.

Another choice might be to get a dual layer dvd burner. I'm not real positive on that. I would think that these would allow you to burn a large .ISO file.

Without knowing this is just a shot in the dark.
